At our most recent Future Directions Forum and as a result of the survey results, the group decided it was time to ask our members where your preference lies as we move ahead with future plans for the Club.
Competition, friendship, inclusiveness and the social aspects, were strong and common responses shared in the recent survey. We will continue to lobby for the Race categories to remain as is, but in the meantime we want you to seriously consider what is important for you as a member of our Club while considering the fabric and culture of the Club that we love being a part of.
Please can you consider the two options below. Select only ONE preference below and click the SUBMIT button once completed.

Competitive Focus
This will involve the club targeting one or two race categories with the aim to being as competitive as possible in these categories. At all racedays the best crew will be selected for all races. This will not be totally at the cost of inclusion but some paddlers may not receive exactly the same number of races. Effort will still be made to be as inclusive as possible. This focus will more closely align the club with the current Crew Selection Policy which states “All members will be considered but final selection will be results-driven”.
Inclusive Focus
The crew selection will mainly focus on giving all paddlers an even number of races at all racedays rather than selecting any crews purely on a competitive basis. Every person in our Club will continue to be treated with respect and where we believe that every SADA Member should be able to participate in our sport in a welcoming and inclusive way. This will probably be at the cost of being as competitive as possible in any race category.
